Snowdrift Cottage
Nestled amidst snow-capped mountains, this project is a design ode to the charming countryside and cozy cottage aesthetic, thoughtfully honoring nature while restoring the 1910 Victorian soul of our clients family home. To accommodate a busy household of six and their frequent social gatherings, the design achieves a sophisticated "Alpine Hygge" through a soothing palette of soft sage and bone that reflects the mountain light while infusing the space with traditional Victorian warmth. Functional challenges were met with intentional solutions: the lack of a separate pantry was resolved by integrating two tall cabinets with specialized organizers, and the central island was engineered to provide seating for three diners while maintaining 48-inch clearances on all sides for multiple cooks. By grounding the space with refinished original hardwoods and low-maintenance, vintage-inspired materials, the remodel transforms this historic kitchen into a durable, light-filled sanctuary that celebrates both family life and the rugged beauty of the outdoors.
